Cost

Flight training is a significant commitment, so it's important to get an idea of what it will cost. Fortunately, most students are driven by a passion just like I was when I worked my way through training. I often relate the cost of a pilot's license to getting a used car or an expensive vacation abroad. Here is a breakdown of the certifications and ratings necessary to become an airline pilot.

Zero to Hero flight training pyramid

The table below is just an estimate, and you will never pay up front for a lesson. Notice that the cost goes down with each rating - like a pyramid, each rating builds on the last one. That's why the Private Pilot license is known as the easiest and hardest rating at the same time: It's the first time a student often touches the controls of a plane, but at the same time has the easiest standards. You might also be satisfied with becoming a private pilot, or getting an instrument rating and stopping there to refine your skills as a recreational pilot for the occasional $100 hamburger weekend flight. To reiterate - I am qualified to take you through all ratings below.

Disclaimer: I believe that you should get what you pay for. If either of us feel that a lesson was not value-add, I will waive the instructor cost. Additionally, I will work with you to make sure your goals are financially achievable. My chief goal is to make you succeed.
